David Salgado is a Barcelona-based flamenco guitarist and educator known for his expressive playing and cross-cultural collaborations. Rooted in traditional flamenco, he honed his craft through informal mentorships and performances in local dance schools. A graduate of Taller de Músics, Salgado blends flamenco with jazz and world music influences, performing in ensembles like the flamenco trio with Sonia Molina and Álvaro López.
Born and raised in a small town near Barcelona, David Salgado discovered his passion for flamenco guitar during his teenage years. Immersing himself in the flamenco tradition, he learned from local masters and gained experience accompanying dancers in flamenco schools. To broaden his musical horizons, Salgado pursued formal studies at Taller de Músics, one of Barcelona’s premier jazz institutions. There, he explored the fusion of flamenco with jazz, developing a unique style that bridges traditional and contemporary sounds.
Salgado’s versatility has led him to participate in diverse musical projects, including international collaborations featuring Kurdish and Arabic music. In 2023, he performed as part of a flamenco trio with Sonia Molina and Álvaro López in the Música Z concert series, showcasing emerging talent in Barcelona’s cultural centers.
In addition to performing, Salgado is dedicated to education, teaching flamenco guitar to students in Barcelona.
